A northwest Ohio native, Dr. Nathan Downey grew up in Whitehouse and attended Anthony Wayne High School.  He earned his D.D.S. (dental training) at The Ohio State University and then completed a general practice residency at the Medical University of Ohio, where he received a Masters of Science (M.S.) degree in Biomedical Sciences.  Dr. Downey then completed a fellowship at the University of Florida in Orthodontics and facial pain before graduating from The Ohio State University, Orthodontic Residency program with his specialty certificate and Masters of Science (M.S.) degree in oral biology.

During Dr. Downey’s training, he was active in various orthodontic materials research projects which resulted in scientific presentations at the International Association of Dental Research.  Dr. Downey’s passion to provide the best care for his patients is evident in the numerous continuing education courses that he attends.

Dr. Downey is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics and the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association (ADA), the Ohio Dental Association, the Toledo Dental Society and the Cleveland Society of Orthodontics.  He is also board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, which is a distinction only a small percentage of orthodontists currently hold.

When not engaged in his favorite activity (creating beautiful smiles), Dr. Downey and his wife, Jennifer, enjoy spending time with family, downhill skiing, hiking, traveling and outdoor activities.
